The English Chemist Joseph Priestley gave it the title rubber in 1770 when he discovered it may be accustomed to rub out pencil marks. Its main commercial achievements arrived only once the vulcanization approach was invented by Charles Goodyear in 1839. Natural rubber is the only real non-synthetic rubber.
